can no longer up2date, need help with full install

Hi all

We have a Astaro web gateway 1000 running v7.501 and we are having a issue with the aua connections being read incorrectly (fixed in v7.502).

Now to update this what is the process if we no longer are licensed to use the up2date method. Do i just grab the hardware installer pop the cd into a usb drive and let it go? What is the quickest way to reload the config to the previous state (backup? or is it possible to get the cd to auto load the old settings).

Could i pull and swap the harddisk for another one so that if this re instilation doesnt work we can just run the old setup?

    ok fair enough, will have a look into that (budget is tight for it atm).

    If the hdd got stolen by french nudists and we didnt have a full backup of the harddisk, would we be able to install ASG V7.510 or ASG V7.500 with our expired license?

    how about you folks just get a sub then you don't have to do this kind of thinking.  You are really putting out a ton of effort to avoid updating a security appliance...which updates are critical for any security hardware/software to work correctly.

    security is extremely lax here, very tight budget. Sorry if ive offended people with my ignorance but in the end they are paying me so my hands are sort of tied. most of the machines here were xp sp2, win servers havent been updated in years, one data server wasnt even backed up e.t.c.

    insist on using free antivirus, heaps of stuff...

    If i came to them saying spend $500 or just restart the proxy every 2 weeks i know which option they will go with. ($500 is what my it manager told me the license costs).

    that philosophy is going to get them and by extension you screwed.  Once that network gets compromised(if it isn't already) the budget won't be nearly as much as 25% of the funds needed to fix the damage..if they even exist after the cleanup is done.

    Yeah... im not the manager just the techie. so far my resume has a shitload of serious saves/corrections so even if we went under id hope my future employer would understand my position.

    Anyway thankyou for that will, i will look into a new license but will probably be a futile exercise..
