HyperV installation

stripped-down and heavily customized for this specific distribution.  It's designed to not make allowances for end-user customization of the distribution, as that could compromise the security of the system.  Changes that you might make from the shell can and will be overwritten during Astaro updates.

Most initial install issues that I see are due to two things.  1)  a corrupted install disk.  Don't burn the iso on max speed.  8x-12x burn speed.  Of course with Hyper-v, you can just install directly from the ISO as a virtual-CD drive and avoid this issue altogether.  2)  unsupported hardware.  See the HCL (Hardware Compatibility List) at support.astaro.com.

The 8.2 beta is adding native support for Hyper-v, not certain how far along this process is in the current build though.  Even without this, it can still work with Hyper-v, but you will need to disable all integration components and use the legacy NICs.

thanks to all...Astaro released 8.2 a few day ago so theres HyperV_Support...:-) .I already installed the up2date firmware packet ....and it works. The Astaro Staff also added the drivers....and u can see now in 8.2 that there will be autoloaded..by checking with "lsmod"....And if theres anyone who wants manual switch up before 4th August. ....If the upgrade was successfully, then its important to note the mac adresses of the legacy network cards. After this u have to shutdown the virtual machine...remove all the legacy network cards.,...and add the "normal" network cards...but with editing it back to their old mac adresses.....

Afterwards asg is up, login and u can see in the dash by Interfaces , that the "LINK" is now UP!!!Enyoy it!!

I will not critics any vmwareproducts, but i made some bad experience with vmware in the points performance with networking and file.....if u dont have an Lun / iscsi.....

With Hyper-V theres an better performance ....Actually i have an Q6600 with 8 gb ram on a Dell Poweredge ....with HyperV its faster(one array "raid1" on SAS).....if u have more harddisk(like more raidlevels) on a server , then its better to choose vmware...
