Webadmin login hangs, v8

Hi

This morning the login proceudure to the webadmin hangs and end with "Service temporarily unavailable". 

Ive got the admin user and password, the loginuser and password but unfortunately we did not set the root password (this is a new install).

Any ideas on how to solve this issue? The FW works fine but we cannot access the webadmin.

All the solutions I've found needs to be done as root but since we don't have the password it aint much we can do.

I read something about the news feed and that it could possibly cause this. I can see that the news feed xml-file was updated at midnight.

Any help is highly appreciated.

    If it were me, the first thing that I would try is to give the Astaro a reboot as the WebAdmin service may be hung.

    Yes, thats my plan. I only need to get access to webadmin in order to set the root password. 

    The main problem however is that the webadmin hangs. I have seen it on v7 too. Very annoying.

    I have printed the PDF that you linked to, could be handy some time.

    There is a bug in ASG firmware: if you have proxy or something else between ASG and Astaro servers, then WebAdmin may hang while trying to download News feed. The problem is that it keeps trying to download RSS feed forever.

    You'll need access to CLI of ASG to fix this (either SSH or direct access with keyboard).

    1)go to command line with root access
    enter following commands:
    2) cc
    3) OBJS
    4) user_preferences->webadmin->REF_...... (there may be few instances beginning with REF_)
    5) marketing_window= 1
    6) w
    7) ..
    repeat steps 4-7 for all REF_....... instances in webadmin section
    8) exit
    9) reboot

    To avoid it in future always disable Astaro News Feed in Management-->Webadmin-->User Preferences for all users with access to WebAdmin
