Software install - Wan state and link DOWN

I have a dedicated server which has a clean install of version 8.102. The internal link is up after installing and im able to log in to the web admin. Everything seems fine and runs quickly, however when i add an external connection it shows up as both state and link as DOWN. The server has 6 Gb nic ports, one obviously being used for the internal connection, but no matter which one i try to connect up to the external i get the same results. I even went as far as reinstalling on a different nic port to make sure the ports are not faulty and the internal connection is again fine. Something is obivously being set in the software which isnt allowing an external connection but im out of ideas. Also, the link lights on the nic and router and showing as green.

    Hi, what kind of NIC are you using?

    What does 'ethtool' show?
    e.g.
    ethtool eth1

    IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE. If i had a stick i would hit myself round my head. I kept on at it and missed one step, clicking the go button on the interface after creating it. Cant believe i missed that, ive been stressing out all day with it.

    Just finished downloading the cff database and its quick [:D] System reads only 21% ram being used, 0% cpu and 0% page file. If all goes well then im a happy bunny!

    Thanks for everyones input on the dedicated server option!
