1. No. The system acts I/O wise as one system. Other than that these are still two machines, so the RAM doesn't magically double. They run the same configuration, license and the slave and workers are not directly accessible via e.g. SSH. But it feels to the network and any other parts of your infrastructure as just "this one ASG thing".

However the other nodes give some advantage, see 3. for details.

2. There are a few scripts to access the other nodes via SSH. I can't recall them by heart, but ha_utils on the command line (again, of course unsupported) is a good starting point.

3. Yes and no: the input and output is ALWAYS just handled by the master node. The processing power that the other nodes add to the cluster are (in an Active / Active Cluster, not in an Active / Passive aka. HA Cluster) used to speed up certain services.

What happens: the master accepts e.g. the HTTP proxy communication. It has to do some calculation (e.g. scan for viruses). It then can offload these calculations to the slave or another worker node. The result of this calculation is handed back to the master who then answers the request. Every Network I/O linked to that is handled through the master. The "work tasks" are distributed through the HA link.

The following services benefit from being run in an A/A cluster:
- IPsec
- IPS
- HTTP/S and FTP filtering
- SMTP and to my knowledge also POP3 filtering

most importantly the following things are not enhanced by a cluster:

- Firewall throughput (and hence overall system throughput)
- SSL VPN throughput
- RED
- WiFi
- Web Application Firewall
- Application Control

For anything else, please schedule a 1:1 session with one of the Astaro consultants in case this would EVER become commercially relevant for you. Jobbin will probably - if you really want to sell Active Active to a customer - be more than happy to walk you through. 

Unless then (friendly word of personal advice): spend your time on other things that might help you achieve your goals better than studying a technology you'll never use productively.

No, I am not. This might be a bit off topic here, but if there is a real business case behind it and you really can present a real customer and some money that Astaro can collect, they will be more than happy to walk you through. This includes to my best knowledge also Jobbin. But, there must be a real customer that is willing to buy a cluster or HA solution.

Can i use 100 mb card on 1 system and 1000 mb card on another system for HA link  ?
Do i have to use same make nic on both asg (intel on 1 asg and intel on another asg) or on 1 asg can i use intel and another asg can i use 3com/realtek ?

what is sys id ? (which is mention on online and pdf help ?) mac related ?
