Upgradeing 8.x questions

 1)I did a complete reinstall of a ASG box last night, and had it at version 8.003. This morning it had downloaded patches for 8.1xx so I went directly to the latest patch. After reboot my wan interface didn't work so I had to reinstall again. Now it works.
Could the largr version jump have caused my problems?

2) After todays reinstall I restored a backup for version 8.000 when the new install was up and running. The backup was for version 8.001, will this cause any issues under the hood, or is it supported to restore a backup from 8.001 into 8.000?

    1)  Yes, this is possible.  When you're offered multiple up2date packages, you want to install them one at a time in order, as the u2d packages don't necessarily have all of the patchs from previous u2d packages.  The best way around this is to reinstall from the newest ISO (base version) available.

    2)  There is the chance that this could cause issues.  Backup files are backwards compatible (install a BU from 8.000 into 8.002), but you want to avoid installing a newer backup into an older install (install a BU from 8.002 into 8.000).  There may be some data in the backup for a feature that changed or even didn't exist in the older version that could cause issues.

    I've performed an update to version 8.001 now, but can still experience issues even though I'm now on the same version as the restored backup was from?

    But if I agere do do another install, this time using the media for 8.102, then I would be sure that everything workshop well if I use my backup from version 8.000? That would be safe and supporte?
