Also, hopefully you remember what address you assigned to the WebAdmin (LAN) interface during install.  The workstation that you use to connect must be on this same subnet.  If during install you set 192.168.1.100 as the WebAdmin address, then your workstation has to also have a 192.168.1.x address.

I have using https and port 4444 and I looked through that and it did not help.

I tried each NIC with no success.  How should the ASG PC be hooked up to the network?

I have the right address and both computers are hardwired to the same router.

ok, the assumption is that you have at least 2 NICs in your Astaro box.  One will be WAN (out to internet) and the other will be LAN (to your internal computers and devices).  They are not interchangeable.  On the WAN side, WebAdmin is disabled...you wouldn't want just anyone to be able to swoop in and assign a password and other parameters during initial WebAdmin setup.

During install you'll be shown a list of detected NICs.  One will be eth0, then eth1, then eth2, etc.  Traditionally eth0 is LAN (the one that you want to use for WebAdmin), eth1 is WAN, and any others are used for other purposes (LAN2, WAN2, DMZ, whatever).  Then you assign address information to the interface that you've chosen for WebAdmin, by default this will be 192.168.2.100.  That is the address that you'll use to connect to WebAdmin.  

By far the most common and simplest way of hooking up devices is: Internet-----Modem-----Astaro------switch-----PC's and other devices.  Astaro is designed to be the perimeter device (it can do real full fledged routing among the many security features.  You can place some other router between the modem and Astaro, but then you'll most likely be doing double-NAT which can be a massive pain to troubleshoot.

When you say router, do you mean some home use Linksys or Netgear box with a little switch built into the back?

Are you using known good straight through cables?

Yes its a Linksys G router.  

Yes I know for sure the cables are  good.

I tried going from the modem to ASG to my computer, I cut out the router and I had no internet and was still unable to connect to the webadmin.  I then switched the cable going to the modem and to my computer to see if just maybe i had them wrong.  And still I get nothing.

I checked the ifconfig and i have the ip address right.

I also turned off my security software and turned off my windows firewall.  This didnt help either.

My defualt browser is Firefox, so I tried using IE and this did not help.

Maybe it was a bad install for whatever reason.  Let's try installing again.  Doesn't take long.  If it were me, I'd do an md5 check on the ISO to make certain that it's ok, then I would burn a new install disk at 8x, not max.  Make whatever NIC is assigned eth0 the one for WebAdmin.  Plug eth0 and the PC into the LAN ports on the Linksys.  Don't plug eth1 (WAN) into anything.  All we want for now is ability to get to WebAdmin.

I tried a new install and made a new DVD at 1x. Nothing.  Thank You for all your support but ill just use the box for something else lol [:)]
