v8.102 doesn't support Active/Passive clustering

Hi all,

I need to upgrade an HA hardware cluster from v7 to v8.

I was reading this: https://support.astaro.com/support/index.php/Migrating_from_V7_to_V8

But then I was advised by one of my engineers that:

"A product update to version 8 is available.  However, since you are using a HA or cluster setup, you cannot upgrade at the moment, because the upgrade does not yet support HA/Cluster systems."

Is this right? Or am I dreaming? Or do I need to just wipe each ASG.

    in order to upgrade 7 to 8 in a HA environment, you have to wait for 7.510, that is in soft release. Please read this thread: http://www.astaro.org/astaro-gateway-products/hardware-installation-up2date-licensing/35897-asg-up2date-7-510-soft-release.html. In any case, it is the one touch upgraqde process (that is reserved to hardware appliance users) that does not supports the upgrade of units configured in HA with 7.509 firmware, v8 itself supports HA.


    EDIT: A little consideration: it seems to me that a large number of ASG installation did not upgrade to v8... is it only my sensation?

    8.*** (including 8.102) DOES support clustering... what was not supported in 7.509 was the in-place upgrade to 8.*** if you were configured using a cluster / failover.  As Eclipse states above, 7.510 does enable this functionality, so you will be able to do an in-place upgrade of your HA cluster.

    I recently demoed a pair of ASG in active/active cluster mode. In order to perform the upgrade to v8 I broke the cluster, upgraded each node, and rebuilt the cluster. I also noticed that my Licence key needed to have the following line in order to even update to v8.
    LicenseMode = ondemand

    Yes, you must have a "new model" license in order to do the in-place upgrade.  Contact your reseller if you have any questions regarding this; the license conversion process is straightforward and incurrs no additional cost to you.

    7.510 will allow you to update a HA configuration WITHOUT breaking the cluster or active/passive configuration.  It is currently in soft-release, and should be general release within a week or so (probably sooner, it's been in soft-release a while).
