Sorry, I've already searched the forums, and everything I've found is badly outdated (except for one post, which I'd like to confirm.) I have a virtualized ASG 8.101 with two e1000 virtual NICs. eth0 is internal, eth1 external. I was trying to migrate to a physical box, which has an e1000 and an e100 NIC. I want the gigabit NIC to be the internal one, but for some reason, udev is renaming the nics so that the e1000 ends up as eth1 and the e100 as eth0. I flailed around for quite a bit with no real success. From a fairly recent post here, I think what I want to do is edit /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and change the names? I tried that, but it just disabled eth0 and created eth2 [:(] I think maybe that is because I had eth1 before eth0? Do I need to make sure they are in a certain order? Alternatively, if there was some way to edit the saved backup file and change the names there, I'd be happy to try that (I just want to get this working LOL). Is there a "best practices" method?
