7.510?

Is 7.510 expected soon? I have a couple full guard units I would like to update to V8...

    My guess (this is only a guess, but an educated one) is that you won't see 7.510 out until 8.102 is released; the purpose of 7.510 was to mainly allow an in-place upgrade from Version 7 to Version 8.1xx ... and given some of the issues that cropped up in 8.101, I'm thinking they'll wait to release 7.510 when they can "target" the upgrade image at Version 8.102.  I would wait until then myself, even if they released 7.510 today.

    why a direct upgrade from v7 to v8.102 should be better than an upgrade from v7 to v8 and thenfrom v8 to v8.102?

    Simple... to circumvent having to deal with bugs in 8.100 or 8.101.

    Not to mention, there were issues with going from 7.508/7.509 to 8.003 .. I'm sure they are testing thoroughly so that those issues are quelled when 7.510 is released.

    Well, but if I upgrade to v8, then the upgrades to v8.102 should be automatic and "one touch"... (sure, you will have anyway to wait for v8.102).


    Not to mention, there were issues with going from 7.508/7.509 to 8.003 .. I'm sure they are testing thoroughly so that those issues are quelled when 7.510 is released.

    I hope so... I don't have too many HA customers, but the few I do have, I'd rather them not have to upgrade manually (at least for the slave units).

    Some variations of 7.50x to 8.00x upgrades may not successfully transfer your configuration correctly.  Where that was the case, upgrading again from 8.00x to 8.10x would not fix those issues as the damage had already been done, so to speak).  However, if I recall correctly, the 7.509 upgrade to 8.101 supposedly works without issue, for all but HA.

    I think the most recent plan was that 7.510 HA would transfer to 8.102 HA.
