Astaro Home User Laptop Setup

I'm trying to setup a laptop for use for the Astaro home user firewall.  It is finding my onboard NIC but is not finding my PCMCIA/Cardbus NIC.  Since it cannot find the secondary NIC the installation is not continuing.   The cardbus NIC is a US Robotics 10/100 NIC.  Any suggestions on how to proceed?

    Is the CardBus NIC on the HCL? https://support.astaro.com/support/index.php/Hardware:CompatibilityList If not, then it just may not work at all, due to lack of driver support. If this is the case, then you may want to try installing on the laptop as a virtual machine with two virtual NICs. The only Hypervisor currently officially supported is VMWare and you can download a pre-configured VM from the Astaro FTP. It can work with other hypervisors, but will need to be massaged a bit through use of various compatibility features in the hypervisor.

    no there's nt going to be a cardbus adapter on the hcl and most likely not even a vm is going to help there as well.  get a desktop of some kind..[:)]

    Well, in looking at the HCL list there is a 3Com 3c575 cardbus adapter that is listed.  I have found one of those and inserted it into the laptop but it is not being listed as the second NIC in the laptop yet.

    I'm using a laptop due to space issues where my router is located so a desktop isn't going to work very well.

    i sit corrected..but there's more than just recognizing the cardbus adapter it has to recognize the cardbus controller as well..

    Hi, try re-installing; Astaro won't detect new hardware after installation is complete.

    If you can't get the laptop working, try looking at Mini-ITX based systems for compact options.
