I installed the ASG 8.003 on a Dell Dimension 4300. All was working well and so well that I wanted to upgrade the ASG NIC's to gigabit cards. I purchased two Netgear GA311 gigabit NIC's and a D-Link DGS-1008 gigabit switch. I reinstalled ASG on the Dell machine because I could not find a way to upgrade the NIC's otherwise. During the installation, both NIC's were recognized. I selected the one listed on top for eth0 and set the ip to the same ip I was using previously. Overall the setup was the same. But I changed the windows client that was connected to the switch so that the dns server was that of eth0.
I launched firefox and used the same shortcut as before (same eth0 address) but no connection. I could not connect by pinging. I disconnected the "other" ethernet wires from the switch so only the client machine and ASG machines were connected to the switch. I power cycled everything. I could not reach the ASG from the client browser. I tried connecting the ethernet cable to the other ASG NIC and powercycled everything. Still could not reach the ASG from the client browser. Eth1 was not connected.
I tried the old 100mb/s switch, still no go. I reconnected the new gigabit switch and I put in my stand by router in place of the ASG and I am online typing away back on the internet again.
I followed the get started directions but am having no luck. I don't know what could be wrong but fear something simple. I did have the ASG up and running with the old NIC's just prior to the upgrade.
