ASG220 Rev3 : what can it handle ?

Vels, the RED is a perfect solution for lots of situations.  I would urge you to take your concerns about using RED to your reseller.

I would be with Bruce that you should get a software license if you need the power of a 320.  In fact, I'm not convinced that you need a 220, as a 120 might be enough for your main office.

If you decide against RED:
If you have an office that always has fewer than five people, and there aren't a lot of different people coming and going, an ASG 110 might be a good solution (same hardware as the 120, but limited to 10 IPs).  A 120 would be right for the branch office.

The reason I ask is really because I am in doubt about the reseller / distributors knowledge about the RED box as it seems he added skills to it that it at the present documentation can't handle. Thats why I ask here becuase I have a feeling some of you have had hands on.

About the software license... I dont know how the pricing is set in the US, but here a 100 users software license would cost more than a full guarded unlimited ASG220 how insane that might sound. So actually a software solution on own hardware would get real pricy real fast.

It's fine to calculate "users", but in my world all my users carry wifi enabled phones, have one or more computers in the offce etc. The present Astaro license "user" count doesn't really take care of this, but measures as I can understand pr. registered IP accessing the internet. In other words, if I have 25 people in the office one day, that means at least 50 active users in Astaro terms.. we simply can't afford that kind of license model in the software setup. Perhaps the word "users" should be changed to units..
I have around 20 users daily at main and 15 at branch.. so ASG110 is not an option, choice would be going for RED or ASG120 then..

I did ask the reseller about bundling RED, say having 2 or more public IP's at at remote site and setting up one RED for server and one for users.. He liked the idea but had no idea if it could work.
