Network Interface not coming up

I'm having trouble getting a new network up.

The new NIC is an Intel Pro 100/S
I'm running Astaro 8.003 on a VMWare Hypervisor
The VMWare admin tool recognizes the NIC and I've assigned it to the Astro VM as Eth2.
Astaro reconizes the NIC and it shows " Rent [Up] on eth2"  Indicators are Green.

On the Dashboard however the state shows Up/Green but the link shows down/red.

In the Kernel Messages on ASL I see the following: "2010:12:15-23:06:52 wahine kernel: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth2: link is not ready "

Can someone help me solve this?

    What ESX version are you using ? I think ESX4 only supports Intel gigabit virtual NICs now.

    Though I have had this problem on one of my physical ASG220 units before, this is usually a network misconfiguration within webadmin.
