I finally got around to updating to 8.x and it borked my ASG110. I know it said that the upgrade could take a while, but when >>1h passed, I got suspicious and looked at the console.
While the splash screen indicated that I was running "V8", it was pretty clear that things weren't right... The logon prompt had the wrong IP address.
"No sweat," I figured; "I'll just upload my configuration backup" (that I took before performing the upgrade).
No dice. The ASG wouldn't respond over the network. So I logged in to the console and rebooted it. When it came back, the IP address was back to the expected one, but still no response to the network.
Again, logging in to the console, I checked to see if the interfaces were right (ifconfig), and the fact the WAN port had an address via DHCP suggested it was. But trying to ping from the console resulted in these "sendmsg: operation not permitted" responses instead of replies. Even the loopback was broken.
Needless to say, I opened a case (I do have a subscription), but as it's late, I'm going to download the ISOs for v8 and v7 (in case I need to attempt a roll-back) to see if I can get it resurrected on my own. Thank goodness I have the backup!
