Modem in bridged mode DHCP issues

I apologize if this is a repeat, but my search did not turn up any results.  I have what appears to me to be a strange issue.  
 
First of all I am running ASG 7.508 currently double NAT'd behind a Motorola SBG6580 cable modem.  The external ethernet connection on Astaro is set to Cable Modem(DHCP) mode and pulls an IP address without issues from the modem.
 
As I don't want to settle for double NATing I put the modem in bridged mode in an attempt to have the external interface of Astaro have the public IP assigned to it.  When I put the modem into bridged mode (and restart everything just for good measure) Astaro external interface won't pull an IP address from the modem.  It remains blank.  I have of course tried to renew the IP address from the web interface but haven't had any success.
 
I know that the modem is successfully entering bridged mode and assigning the public address because when I connect to the modem via wireless on my laptop it assigns the public address to the wireless interface of the laptop.
 
Is there something I'm overlooking, or should I be looking for something wrong with the modem?

    It is the modem that is in bridged modem.  Astaro isn't bridged, but the external interface is set to Cable Modem (DHCP).

    Hi,
    You may need to tell your ISP you've replaced your router and to release your DHCP lease.

    Depending on the ISP, you might be able to turn the modem off for a minute and force that.  If not, then, like Barry says, I've had to request that an ISP "bounce" a router more than once in a similar situation.

    Thanks Barry and Bob, that did the trick. I had bounced the modem a couple times myself to no avail, but called the ISP last night and asked them to release the IP lease. After being passed around a few times by people that didn't understand what I was asking I was put in contact with tier 3 technician that said he power cycled my modem from his end. Much to my suprise, as soon as the box came back up the dhcp request was answered and the public IP was assigned to the Astaro box.
     
    In troubleshooting the issue I SSHed to the Astaro box and ran the following command
     
    [FONT=Courier New]tcpdump -lenx -i eth1 -s 1500 port bootps or port bootpc[/FONT]
     
    against the external interface which produced some fairly unreadable output. Do you know of any tool or script that can interpret this type of output? 
     
    Also, I was noticing that when running the above command the interface would drop between bootps / bootpc traffic. Is this the norm for Astaro to turn off an interface between DHCP requests when it is not getting a response?
     
    I had to delete much of the hex below to get below 10,000 characters.

    Hi, I'd suggest saving the dump to a file and loading into Wireshark. Here's a site with a screenshot; I found it via a google search for 'wireshark dhcp reply'
