Astaro 7.5 as virtual appliance

Hello,
i have astaro installed as virtual applicance , but where can i find in documentation, which virtual platform (vmware esx,  vsphere, hyper-v ...) is supported and in which version?

  • VMWare Server and ESX Server are the currently, officially supported platforms.  The latest versions of either should work fine with ASG V7 and V8.

  • Thanks for your help. The reason for my question is, that i want to upgrade my infrastructrue 3.5 to vsphere. Is there anybody who has done this step with ASG so far? Do you have any idea, if a "virutal hardware version" and "vmware tools" upgrade is also needed for the ASG as virtual appliance?
  • You should be able to migrate that VM just fine.  You won't be able to update the VMWare tools on the VM, though, as there are tools missing.  Astaro does regularly update the integrated VMWare Tools occasionally, but I don't think you'll have an issue.

  • OK, but what about the "virtual hardware version"? Do i not need to upgrade it just as i don't need to update the vmware tools?
