ASG 8.003 Soft-Release

Hi Everyone,

Another release to play with. [:)] As you might currently be aware, we have 3 separate tracks going, the V7 track, the V8.100 Beta, and the V8 Stable. This 8.003 up2date is being soft-released as per our policy. There is a bug fix for those who upgrade to V8 from V7, and another set of fixes to address some security advisories around some things like bzip2 and ClamAV. As with ALL of our soft-releases, production environments not urgently needing this release should wait until the official GA push. Installation of this up2date requires you download it via the FTP site and manually insert it into the WebAdmin via the Up2Date section.

Barring any major surprises, this 8.003 will likely be live-pushed to the Stable-V8 installations next week.

  • I already installed the softrelease but since you are going to add a fix to ctasd in the GA will the GA release show up as installable with the softrelease already shoing 8.003?
  • You will probably have to log into the shell on the Astaro as root and set etc/version back to 8.002.  Then you should be able to download and reinstall 8.003.  THis is how it's worked in the past.

I take this to mean that if I manually install this soft release, the final release would not automatically download. Does this also mean that if I install the soft release and later manually download the final release, the device would reject the installation of the final release? Or would the device accept the 8.003 final if I do the update manually?

    Thanks.
  • If you follow my instructions above, the ASG will download the latest up2date when released, regardless of whether you installed a soft-release or not.
