ASG 7.508 Soft-Released

Hello! After a lot of work by our development and QA teams, Up2Date 7.508 is now available as part of our soft-release process. As many are waiting for this package, I will re-state that while soft-release Up2Dates are considered final, they may be slightly tweaked for stability after a period of 5-10 days before the general "push" to all installations (based on the feedback of the users here and our own continued QA during this time). Production environments may wish to wait for the official GA push for 7.508.

7.508 contains two main areas - some new abilities and final polish to the GA-release of our Wireless Security offering, and the V7-to-V8 'upgrade' option for ASG hardware appliance users. We have also upgraded and improved the IPS engine and added outbound spam scanning for V7 (which already exists in V8).

The V7 to V8 upgrade process will reset all existing logs and reports in your V7 installation, but all other settings will be preserved, including the current contents of the mail quarantine. We would be particularly interested in your experiences with the upgrade procedure, and invite you to post your results and feedback here in this thread, which will be closely monitored until the GA up2date push in early November. 

Lastly, as previously stated, this one-touch upgrade process is only available to ASG appliance users. Software installations can easily move to version 8 by installing the ISO image to their platform and restoring a V7 backup file from version 7.507+.

    No, sorry. All Reporting is Database-driven and the scheme has changed substantially - it has been decided to not do a very expensive DB conversion which would cause a very high system load. Maybe you remember what happened to some customers at v7.400 release... [:D]

    Mario, I think he was asking about the Executive Report PDFs and the raw log files.  Won't SCP work for them?

    Also, user BB member sievers reported a bug: https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/52/p/27704/83594#83594.  Astaro (Anonymous/Daniel) confirmed that, but it's not clear to me that Astaro understands that sievers says the other tabs in Up2Date do not function.  I interpreted from his post that he's running the software version since he says the 'Upgrade to V8' tab dissappears after a second.

    Just for the sake of confirmation.

    I understand the v7 to v8 'upgrade option' is only for hardware appliance users right now.

    Does the development team have any immediate plans to offer one for software users?

    I ask because I was holding off on my upgrade for a up2date upgrade to v8.

    I don't think we ever got one for V6 to V7.

    The reason is, that we can't do QA for it. The software appliance installation base is distributed over tens of thousands different hardware combinations. 
    It's safer to schedule a downtime and reinstall the box with V8.

    That's exact what I want, just download the "saved" PDFs and the raw logs - would be great if that would be possible

    Hi, Jack, so if the other tabs are disabled, doesn't that mean it would be impossible to correct the situation because it wouldn't be possible to apply any future Up2Date?
