Beginner seeks advice to SSD \ 64-BIT \ Notification

Dear Astaro forum community

First a greeting to all and thank you to Astaro to provide the free use of this great product for home use. I have tried several distris and nothing comes ran from my point of view of Astaro. Right now I'm in my ASG8 and have a few questions and a little problem. First the hardware:

-Abit NF-M2SV
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 +
-2 GB RAM
-60 GB SATA II SSD OCZ 2
Onboard Intel NIC + 1000 GT

My problem:
The SSD brings true joy at boot time, but on shutdown via power button
the system remains "Power down" and do not want to switch off. When I connect a normal hard disk on the same port and nothing else alters, works to turn off. What can it be? Would be a pity if I have the SSD may therefore not use.

A question to 64-bit:
What would bring me to this system, the 64-bit version for advantages or disadvantages. The installation routine suggests even before 64-bit, but at the same time refers to the 32 bit version when problems arise.

One more question for notification:
I need to activate to use the notification feature, the SMTP Relay? Or does it that way. Is it necessary for an external SMTP server provide?

    Regarding your first question, theoretically I think the issue maybe the BIOS, a BIOS setting or lack of driver support for the Nvidia chipset. Not necessarily the SSD, per say. How does the system respond / shutdown when you commit the shutdown from the software, instead of the power button?

    On your second question, With 2GB of RAM the 64bit kernel will not bring you any immediate benefits. You could use the 32bit. 

    Regarding the SMTP server for the notifications. Astaro includes it's own SMTP server. Unless your ISP is port 25 blocking "which many do" you do not need to change anything. If you ISP "IS" port 25 blocking it allows you to configure it's settings to use your ISP's SMTP server.

    i think it is blocked (vodafone),  i will try an extern smtp
