    Last time I looked, the stated position was that there would be no up2date route for software-only installs; i.e. only Astaro appliances will be able to upgrade via up2date when that becomes available.

    That is correct, we will have the option to perform an in-place upgrade from V7 to V8 "soon" for Astaro hardware appliances.  For software (and virtual) installations, backup/reimage/restore will be the migration path.

    Any information on how soon the v7 to v8 will come through the up2date system?

    We released it in the 7.508 update through our FTP servers yesterday. Depending on the feedback, we will distribute it through the regular update channel in the next weeks.
