8.001 - VMWare ESXi 4.1 slow uplink

Hello everyone,

Had some free time, and being a glutton for punishment, I upgraded my ESXi box to 4.1 and installed the 8.001 ESX image.

Have a DSL connection configured as PPPoE for the external interface.

Running 8.001 the upload speeds are slow.  Using speedtest.net I am seing less than 100kbps.

I played around with the network adapter settings under ESXi and tried changing the speed and duplex as well as setting it to auto-detect.  The 8.001 image doesn't give me the option of changing that on the interface itself.  I have ESX setup with a dedicated card for the external interface on the Astaro.

I kept the 7.507 virtual machine just in case.  When I switch back to that (same hardware), my upload speeds go back to normal.

Any thoughts on where to look for the problem?

ESXi 4.1 proved to be very unstable on my hardware, so I dropped back to 4.0. The 8.001 image under 4.0 is running at the expected speeds. Could have been related to the 4.1 incompatibility.

instead of using the image why dont you use an ISO and install normally in the VM?
