Currently, if you want to migrate to Version 8, you will need to do a clean install with the Version 8.000 (or, at this point, the 8.001) ISO, then restore your Version 7 backup to that install. In-place upgrade will only be supported on official ASG Appliances, and will be coming in a month or so.

If you are not running an official Astaro ASG appliance (ASG 220, 320, etc.) there will NEVER be a direct, in place update from Version 7.*** to Version 8.***. If you are running an ASG 220, etc. I believe they will be distributing a 7.5xx up2date, at some point (probably will be another month or so) that will allow you to do an in-place upgrade.
If you are running a software license version of the Astaro Software (such as Essential Edition, Home Licensed, Commercial per-user Software License), the only upgrade path will be to back up your current 7.5xx configuration, then reload your current system, from scratch, with the latest Version 8.*** ISO (CD), then restore the 7.5xx configuration to this new install.
