I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using v7.5x or V8 on a Core-i3/5 Clarksdale core based system. I would be installing it on a Intel Q57 board.
I was just ready to order a new system to install ASG 7.5 on and low any behold, the reseller just ran out of the board I was going to use.
My original specs were going to be as followed:
CPU= Intel Pentium E6700 - 3.2GHz Dual Core - 2MB L2 Cache - 64bit - VT
Motherboard= Intel BOXDQ45CB - Q45 chipset - VT - Intel NIC
RAM= 4GB (2x2GB) Kingston DDR2 800
HDD= Seagate ES2 250GB SATA/300
NIC= 2x Intel EXPI9301CTBLK 10/100/1000 PCI-E x1
But since the the motherboard is sold out, I had the thought of "why not go CORE-i"
The new specs I am looking at are as follows:
CPU= Intel Core-i3-530 2.93GHz Dual Core Clarksdale - 4MB L3 Cache - 64bit - VT
Motherboard= Intel BOXDQ57TM - Q57 chipset - VT - Intel NIC
RAM= 4GB (2x2GB) Kingston DDR3 1333
HDD= Seagate ES2 250GB SATA/300 - *SAME*
NIC= 2x Intel EXPI9301CTBLK 10/100/1000 PCI-E x1 - *SAME*
The Design Ideas were:
1: Future proofing with some room to grow, horsepower wise.
2: v7.5x AND v8 compatible. v8 still has some work to do to be totally reliable.
3: Reliability and longevity. Fairly low wattage and cost point.
4: ESXi v4 compatibility just in case of needed future expansion.
My concerns are that since my original specs were designed on older proven hardware, I could be confident that the hardware was supported. Yet the clarksdale platform i.e. integrated video, memory controller, etc. is such a change from previous intel designs I do not have much confidence in the compatibility.
The available HCLs on the web, official or non-official are rather outdated and do not lend much assistance for purchases with currently available hardware.
Any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
