V8 Problems

I have been using 7.5 home licence for a few months without any problems on a Dell SC420/2.5GHz/1.25GB Ram/80GB Hdd/3 Intel NIC + 1 Broadcom NIC and I thought I would try V8 but I have run into a few problems;

1. On booting V8 after install the console screen is totally garbled and unreadable, I can still logon to the WebAdmin interface ok but I like to have console in case of any issues. The only way I have found around this is to edit the grub boot options and set vga=791 to vga=normal, is this the best way ?

2. I loaded my V7.5 configuration to V8 and the country United Kingdom no longer exists it is now Great Britain ? Simple to change I know but why change the country name/code ?

3. I cannot access the Reporting > Web Security > Web Usage or Blocked Usage etc. pages any more they just appear blank

4. The boot times have increased since intalling V8, the system now seems to hang on the 'Backup Restore' line for ages before finally continuing with the load

    Hi,
    lets start with the easy bit first.
    Your point 4, I have noticed the same thing on 2 different boxes. I don't remember it taking as long during the beta testing. So this is not an issue for the moment.

    The others open your licences in an editor and see what you are entitled too.


    A fresh install might be called for to overcome the screen issue.

    Your other question, I hope some kind soul from the ASG development team might be reviewing threads regarding v8 and provide an answer.
