Restore to dissimilar Hardware

I know this is a bit of an ask but is it possible to restore a backup from a different machine (including different NIC's)? Has anyone ever done so?

My old P3 will not run V8, I did try :-) so time for a new box but there is a bit of config in there that I would prefer not to have to recreate if I can avoid it.

    Actually no big deal... as long as you have at least the same number, or more, of Astaro-compatible NICs in the new hardware.  You will have to figure out which interfaces are eth0, etc. after restore, but that's normally not too tough.
