Adding NIC to v7

I'm in the need of adding a new NIC to my firewall for a new connection.
AFAIK it's not possible without a reinstall, does this remains?.

my other concern is what happens to the config restore when it finds the new board, does the backup identify the NICs via MAC?, or willl it jumble everything making a mess of my system?(i know in the past it happened to me).

    I added a NIC without reinstalling, but it was identical to one of the existing NICs, so the driver for it already was installed.  Maybe one of the resident Linux gurus can talk about what you need to do to not add the adapter "between" existing NICs.

    the NIC i'll be adding is the same model/chip as two the box already has, so it should appear automatically?

    It should load the driver when you restart it.  I guess that it will load after the firet two since they're already in place.

    it loaded it but it fumbled my interfaces:
    It took the one i added with a higher priority in the PCI bus and so it shifted the nic that was below it physically (took it's place in ASL).

    all in all i was lucky that i needed a simple reconfig for it(and left the internal interface in the new board, better not to try anything funny and lock me out)
