No more ClamAV Up2dates

Hi all,

according to the log-entries of my Home-User-Lic based Astaro 7.504 the box did not download any updates for ClamAV.

I've enabled dual scan for security reasons, however, the last up2date for ClamAV was from May, 7th, 2010 at 20:27 which was  - and still is - version 7.5481. Anyhow, this is at least for a virus scanner pretty old.

All other up2dates work fine, Avira updates are processing successful, IPS is up to date, too.

Any clue if Astaro doesn't provide any updates for ClamAV currently or if this is a specific problem at my box?

    *bump*  I only started using Mail Security after the whole "bad updates" shemozzle the other week, so I have no idea how frequently Clam updates would appear before that, but I too am seeing regular avira updates but no clam updates whatsoever.  Is this normal or is something still broken?

    I can confirm that I've received no ClamAV up2dates after 20:45 CDT on 2010-05-06; a little over an hour before the disaster.

    In the 'Up2Date messages' log, for the last 30 days, search on: var/up2date//clam/u2d 
    That will show you each time an Up2Date for Clam was installed.

    In another post, AlanT commented that one of the servers had been moved and that might be causing a problem.  I'd suggest flushing the Astaro's DNS cache, but, if you want to go to the command line, Alan gave the following line as a way to force a pattern download:

    audld.plx --server v7up2date1.astaro.com:443

    No clam updated in the log since 

    /var/log/up2date/2010/05/up2date-2010-05-13.log.gz:2010:05:13-12:29:19 astaro auisys[8531]: Installing up2date package file '/var/up2date//clam/u2d-clam-7.5481.tgz.gpg' 

    I'll see if I can find that other thread; thanks for raising a ticket about this.

    [Edit] I found the other thread, and ran Alan's command - audld.plx --server v7up2date1.astaro.com:443 - but it did not retrieve any new updates.

    I wonder if this is in any way related to a notification email I received from Clam a few weeks ago which mentioned they were withdrawing support for older versions of clamd?  Are V8 betas still getting clam updates, I wonder?

    Hi all, 

    same here: executing the command audld.plx --server v7up2date1.astaro.com:443 , I got two errors for uninitalized values and there are still no new updates available.

    According to the homepage of clam, virusscan-engines prior 0.95 are disabled by a special signature... - see Clam AntiVirus

    Maybe Astaro has currently problems in handling the pattern update automatically as the signatures are getting larger.

    As I cannot install the beta right now, I don't know if the V8 is receiving updates for ClamAV.

    I received a clam update this morning:

    Up2Date 7.5482 package description:

    RPM packages contained:
     u2d-clam-7.5462-5482.patch.rpm

    Wolperdinger, 7.5481, the version you mentioned in your first post above, was indeed the newest one from Clam until today.

    Hi Bob, I'm sorry for having to disagree with you.

    According to the linux servers I'm operating in the company there were some daily updates available by freshclam.

    I would guess Astaro did - and still does - not provide the updates automatically for some reasons, maybe due to the fact that some customers - with HA clusters (??) - are still running the old 0.94 engines which would then be deactived by clam signatures.

    Without any official statements it would be just guessing and rumoring about the fact why the updates are not as fast as they have been before the debacle.

    At least I know that my system is running proppery.

    The clamav up2date seems to be working again. I too noticed the updates no longer happening. Below is a clip from the log:

    /var/log/up2date/2010/05/up2date-2010-05-19.log.gz:2010:05:19-10:32:32 auisys[18146]: Searching for available up2date packages for type 'clam' 
    /var/log/up2date/2010/05/up2date-2010-05-19.log.gz:2010:05:19-10:32:32 auisys[18146]: Installing up2date package file '/var/up2date//clam/u2d-clam-7.5462-5482.patch.tgz.gpg'

    The clamav up2date seems to be working again.
    Yup, clamd updates are flowing, though they're nowhere near as frequent as avira updates - one every couple of days vs sometimes three avira updates per day.

    I didn't have email protection enabled before the debacle; can anyone tell me whether this was also the case beforehand?  I wonder if the good folks at Astaro are simply applying more rigorous testing to future clamd updates after being bitten by them.
