Licensing question for 1 mailserver

Hi,

I'm not sure how to calculate the licensing cost for an ASG under the following conditions:

1) I've one server behind an Astaro ASG (virtual / software edition). I want to protect him using the IPS so I need the Network Security Subscription. As this server has only one IP the 10 User license should meet my requirements.

2) After some time I want to enable the mail services on this server with about 150 mailboxes, so it would make sense to buy an additional Mail Security license. As far as I understand for the Mail Security Subscription the licensing size is counted per existing mailbox, so I would need a 250 user license.

My problem is that - as far as I'm right - I've to extend my Network Security Subscription also to 250 users, because I can't combine a 10 and a 250 user license on the same device. As this would result in an about 10 times higher licensing cost for the Network Security Subscription, the cheapest solution would be to install two separate virtual appliances. I hope that this is not the suggested solution ;-)

    That's the way it works under the new licensing system.  This is equivalent, in the past, to buying an Astaro Mail Gateway in additon to a basic unit with firewall, IPS and VPN capabilities.  It should add only a few minutes to the time needed to configure a single unit with two 250-User licenses.

    An alternative would be the ASG120 or ASG220, both of which allow unlimited users and both of which are less for Network+Mail Security than a 250-User Mail Security and a 10-User Network Security.  Your reseller should be able to help you with the sizing.
