How to force a pattern update!

Hi there, 

as it is currently not clear to everybody how to force the system to the latest version, 
here is a small how to document that explains how you force the system to update to the lastest version.

The pattern version 12410 will fix both, the IPS and the AV issue!
But if you have these features disabled, the system will NOT fetch pattern for this feature and you will stay on the same, old, broken version. This has been introduced to save bandwidth by not updating pattern that are not used..

The workaround is to set the pattern update interval to 'manual' and save it.
than go to the Overview page and you can click on 'Update patterns now'. 

Please make sure that you have disabled the faulty IPS rules, IPS is enabled and that  Dual AV scanning is enabled. 
That should bring you to the latest pattern version.



you can follow the up2date log to see if the patterns get installed correctly.

    Hi Franc and Alan,

    I might be a bit new here but hope I can help a little.

    I have an ASG220 at the office with all features enabled and I am permanently stuck on on pattern 12409.

    I have 2 other home license systems connected at friends homes that were first stuck on 12408. After the IPS fix, I immediately updated and got 12410 (it skipped 12409). Soon after I got 12411.

    All systems running dual scan AV (http/s & ftp) and IPS.

    I'm in the process of updating manually to ver 7.505 on the ASG220 with 12409 (download is slow! & first time failed md5).

    I will note one thing here, during this whole mess up, the ASG220 ran fine after disabling IPS. I can't confirm but perhaps IPS was already disabled.

    The only other thing that happened was that we did an immediate restart as soon as we started having problems.

    I can only guess that perhaps, somehow, I got the 12409 pattern either due to the restart and IPS was disabled.

    I any case, Astaro should be looking at setting up a separate system with the old patterns, updating to 12408 then 12409 and then trying to make an update.

    Even my ACC is blinking RED on the update icon....
