SuperMicro SYS-5015A-PHF

Hello,
     I am currently looking at reducing my power footprint at home and reducing the noise footprint as well. To that end, I've been looking at low-power Intel Atom based devices from SuperMicro. I've seen plenty of threads about people running the following:

SUPERMICRO SYS-5015A-H 1U
Intel 945GC Intel Atom 330 Dual-Core 1.6GHz processor

But the onboard RealTek nics are not supported under Astaro, so most people are using a riser and additional NIC card.

In looking at SuperMicro's website, they have an updated model using Intel NICs:
Super Micro Computer, Inc. - Products | SuperServers | 1U | 5015A-PHF

Wondering if anyone has tried this model w/ Astaro yet? If so, does it work? [:)]

    Hallo Danim,

    We have improved the hardware support quite a bit with our new upcoming version 8, which is in BETA right now. And now should support also the new RealTek nics.

    Can you please take a look and test if this board is properly supported with the new version?

          While I appreciate the response, it in no way answers the question I asked, which I will re-iterate:

    "Wondering if anyone has tried this model w/ Astaro yet? If so, does it work?"

    Obviously, I am not going to buy the hardware just to test it and find out wether it works with Astaro, so before I make a purchase decision, I want to know if anyone has already gone down this path. If Astaro wants to re-imburse me if it doesn't work, then sure.. I'll buy it and test it on your behalf.

    Any updates on this? I am once again looking at the possibility of upgrading some gear, and the Supermicro boxes look very attractive. Has anyone out there actually tested the V8 Beta with the following board?

    Hi,

    I have tried astaro only on the Supermicro 5013g-m model and it works fine, as others have mentioned. Don't know about the one you stated. At idle the supermicro unit used about 100watts of power same as the Dell R200 we use but an advantage with the dell was raid 1 which saved my butt on two occasions. You could also pick up an old ASG 110/120 on ebay, wipe the drives and install the home version. They are actually rebranded Nexcom units, I forget which model is the low power one. 

    P.S. Some of the supermicro 1u units can be very noisy, if they are out of the way in the basement or something it won't matter.
