IBM hardware Questions

All,

I am considering an upgrade for astaro and was looking at the Lenovo M58e small form factor PC. Outside of the marvel 9057 ethernet card is any one aware of problem with astaro and lenovo PC's? Should I expect the marvel nic to be a problem? Here is a link to the box I am considering:

With this box I will be ordering a second 10/100/1000 low profile nic.

    I am very pleased to state that astaro V8 worked on the lenovo 8910AMU. My blogging is being done through the new firewall!!!! Thank-you all for your help. Astaro loaded up with no issues. I am using the 64bit kernel. One question, currently I have 2 gb of ram on board. Would upgrading to more that 4 gb be recomended with the 64bit edition?

    Hi, RAM usage is dependent on how many features (HTTP A/V, SMTP A/V, IPS, etc.) you're using, and your active bandwidth and users.

    Just keep an eye on the RAM and SWAP usage in the Reporting-Hardware graphs... if it starts using most of the ram AND more than 100MB of SWAP, you should get more RAM.

    I don't believe there are any home users that NEED more than 2GB in previous versions of Astaro, but 64-bit systems use more RAM than 32-bit systems (because of how programs compile and how data is stored), and I don't know if v8 needs more RAM than v7 (I'm sure it will use more if you use the reverse http proxy and other new features).

    more ram never hurts but if you don't need it(as barry stated above) it's not really needed.
