Upgrade new release

Hi,
I have two ASG220 in cluster active/active and both have 1Gb of RAM.
Now they have installed release 7306 and I don't have problems.
The question is if I have to update to the last release 7504 or not.
If you suggest to update to the last version, I have to do all the steps (7400,7401,7402.....7500,7501....) or I can install directly the last one (7504)?
I know that from 7400 Astaro has improved other checks.
If I install the 7504 it works without changing the configuration or I have to modify or add something?
Many thanks in advance.
Mimmo Piermarini

  • There were a number of issues in previous releases when upgrading a cluster... what I'd do if it were me, is break the cluster, make a backup, then reinstall from ISO using the latest ISO version available on each unit, restore the backup to one device, then reconfigure the cluster.  It may be worth you starting an official support case with Astaro Support before attempting any of this; you're pretty far behind as far as versions right now.

  • Hi Mimmo,
there was a small HowTo from Gert which is posted here.
You could try it this way.
    Good luck !

  • Mimmo, I just did this for a client earlier this month.  Do you need/want to retain logs, reporting and/or email quarantine?

  • Thanks for the answers.
BAlfson, if it is a problem, I can also to lose logs, reports and quarantine.
KKnecht: I read the link you have suggested, but I must to start from 7400 or I can to begin from 7500?
The configuration I have in 7306 is OK or I have to adjust something to work fine?

    Thanks Mimmo
  • If you go the route of Up2Dates, you must install them all in sequence.  You can manually select them one-at-a-time, or you can pick one and Astaro will install all of the earlier ones automatically.  Based on my experience two weeks ago, I suggest you do this in two steps; 7.405 then 7.504.  I would start the each sequence at the end of a workday; the Up2Dates should be completed on both Master and Slave by the morning.

If you want to install from ISO (erases all logs, reporting, etc.), you should use one of the two approaches in the thread I linked to above.

  • Ok,
    many thanks for your replies.
But do you think that I have to add something at the configuration, or it works without changing anything?
  • One of the reasons you have to do all of the Up2Dates in sequence is just that - needed configuration changes are done automatically in the Up2Date.
