Jumping firmware versions

When installing Up2Dates and there are multiple versions sitting out there, is it necessary to do each one individually and sequentially? What exactly does the "Update to latest version now" button do? I remember asking an Astaro tech this question a while back and I never got a solid answer, but he recommended that I install them individually. Obviously that can be rather time consuming if there are many of them out there.

Does the "Update to latest version now" install all firmware updates sequentially? Or only the latest firmware update? If it does them all, will it reboot multiple times? Is it handled differently if you're jumping minor version numbers (i.e. 7.402->7.504 vs. 7.501->7.504)?

Hopefully someone can clarify that for me.

    Astaro Up2dates are not like Windows Service packs; each must be installed, in sequence, to reach the final version.  When you click "update to latest version", the Astaro applies each cached up2date in sequence, and reboots (if a reboot was required for any of the applied updates).

    I generally don't recommend doing an "update to latest version" if you have many queued up2dates; I'd install the major releases (7.400, 7.500, etc.) individually.  Collections of minor releases don't normally give me any problems if installed all at once.  For example, I wouldn't update from 7.400 straight to 7.500 in one click; however, once I reached 7.500, I'd have no problem with jumping, from there, to 7.504.
