installing failing...

I am not sure why the install is failing.. but it just gets to the checksum page and then after what seems about 5 min... it says install failed.  Remove the CD and reboot.

Its an intel4 Shuttle PC 120BG HD, 1BG Mem, no floppy and I am using a USB CD rom. - which is new as I thought that was the reason why it bombed before as well.

    Return Code 256

    then about 10 of these:
     UMOUNT /desk//SYS  no such file or directory
     UMOUNT /desk//PROC  no such file or directory
     UMOUNT /desk//OPT...  no such file or directory
