ASG becoming unresponsive

Hi,

I've had 3-4 occasions over the last 6 months where my ASG 110 (first generation) becomes unresponsive to ping requests, HTTPS (WebAdmin on port 4444), DHCP, routing traffic in general, etc.  The unit I am using is running as an ASG Software Appliance (v7.502) as opposed to a Hardware Appliance, as I'm using it with a home license.

When the ASG gets into this unresponsive state I have no option but to perform a hard reboot, after which all is well once it comes back up.  Here's a snippet of the system log up to the time where it stopped responding.  I don't know if this yields any clues, or if there are other logs I should also be looking at.

This isn't critical for me given I'm a home user, but it's certainly inconvenient when it happens while I'm away.  If it's a software issues I'd expect it could well happen to others.  If it's hardware-related I'd swap it for a new unit, but would rather not incur the cost unless I'm sure it's a hardware problem.

    Hi, I don't know if the 110 has any fans, but you should check for stuck fans and dust bunnies.

    Thanks.  Yes, the 110 I have does have a fan (very early units did not), but it seems to be humming away happily.  I'll break it open and clean out the innards just in case dust is to blame.  I've been considering a fanless mini PC such as those from CappuccinoPC.com - sounds like that might be a good option.

    Did you look at the reports in the webadmin?  My ASG became unresponsive the other day and I found the system load was up to 41.  Never seen it that high before.  Clamd and hyperdyper were clogging the pipes.  I have not gone through the logs to find out who did it.  I ultimately had to power cycle it too.
