Hot swap a nic

I find my ASG unit has become very unstable. I dont have a monitor attached to it for direct viewing but find the following can happen after a day or sometime it might be good for several but evenetually i always need to reboot it.

I'll find i cant route anything through it from internal PCs & even pinging it times out. Im starting to think it could be the internal nic that is causing this. Can i swap out a nic without the need to rebuild the whole system.

Any suggestions from anyone who has tried similar

    If the NIC does not use the same driver, it's advisable to make a backup, and reload from scratch, then restore the backup.  There are ways to get around this, but it's not supported by Astaro, so if it's a production box, I wouldn't do that.
