Up2date failed when updating from 7.306 -> 7.502

Hello - We've got a little up2date frustration in the air here..

We tried to update ASG 7.306 HA installation to the latest version available (7.502) but
while the up2date process started running fine on the slave, it eventually stalled to the 
version 7.405. Webadmin showed at the HA page that slave status was still 'up2date', but 
the box was pretty much just idling. We tried rebooting the system but it didn't do 
anything.

So, next we ran the the 'auisys.plx --rpmargs --force' command on the slave, which seemed to apply the
rest of the update packages without any error messages. After rebooting, slave's reported version 
was 7.502 *but* status is still stuck to 'up2date'. Also the HA log keeps showing up the following 
message:


STATEMENT: select last_value::int4 from "_asg_cluster".sl_local_node_id
2010:01:18-12:10:58 (none) postgres[13705]: [4-1] LOG: unexpected EOF on client connection
2010:01:18-12:10:58 (none) postgres[13711]: [3-1] ERROR: schema "_asg_cluster" does not exist 



Someone had similar problems (slave got stuck to up2date) and the solution was to disconnect
and reinstall the slave to the same version as the master and then reconnect again. I would've 
tried it, but since my master is still at version 7.306 and oldest version I can find from the 
Astaro site is 7.402. *sigh*..

    I assume you have upgraded RAM so that you aren't suffering from that.  If not, you might try turning IPS off until you've completed the Up2Dates.

    I have the 7.302 iso and the 7.305 up2date if that is of any help.

    Why not just bring all you ASGs up to 7.502 with a rebuild?

    Thanks but I already found 7.003 ISO and downloaded the update packages to the 7.306. The update process should not interfere our network functions at all, so that's why we're trying to apply the updates with a minimum (risk of) downtime. I assume you mean by rebuild to reinstall the whole package?

    Yes, I did mean a complete new installation.

    Ok, we reinstalled the slave to the same version as the master, shut it down, reconnected the network cables and powered up, but nothing seemed to happen (well, it booted up, but nothing else). Then we applied a freshly taken backup from the master on to the slave system an rebooted it again but it still won't communicate with the master.

    HA status on the master shows "HA/Cluster is active in mode HA with 1/1 nodes". Taking the HA mode off and rebuilding it again probably would help but it also (AFAIK) does factory reset to the only system currently alive, which means inevitable interrupt to our network access.

    Any ideas?
