Prebuild hardwarebox for essentials edition

Hi folks,
a customer of mine, asked for a cheap firewall. I offered an asg 120 without any services but it was to expensiv for him (Company size: 25 computer, 3 Server). So I decided to look for a prebuild hardware box (because I dont like screwdrivers [;)] )

I've checked the official HCL and most of the devices on the list are too large. I found three entries about Nexcom but all of them have to less ram (max 512MB).

Are there any boxes which are compatible (and not on the HCL) which have enough power for the essentials edition?

Hi, the 945gc and ICH7 chipsets should work fine, however it is unlikely that the Marvel NICs are supported.

Also, be aware that most 1U servers are very loud.

If you don't mind the noise, you can pick up a used HP DL rackmount server on eBay for $300-600, and possibly even get an HP support contract with it.

Noise is not an issue. Everything terminates in the basement. I'll poke around on ebay. That may be the way to go. I like the small supermicro system posted previously but I'd to build something that meets demand and is somewhat future proof. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm still working through specs. Can anyone comment on this Supermicro board:

Paired with a C2D E7400 or E7500

1. Intel 3200 + ICH9R Chipset
2. 1x Intel 82573V PCI-E Gigabit LAN
1x Intel 82573L PCI-E Gigabit LAN
3. On board XGI Volari Z9S 32MB Graphics

Full specs: Super Micro Computer, Inc. - Products | Motherboards | Xeon 3000 Sequence Boards | X7SBL-LN2

Are the E7400/7500 supported? What about the ICH9R chipset? I don't see that in the HCL either.

I'm guessing that I've answered my own questions but I found it used for a decent price and would like to move on it.

Any modern Intel or AMD x86 CPU will work (and some VIAs).

I'm not sure about the ICH9R chipset though.
