Interfaces slow to intialize

All of my interfaces (dual gig intel pci-e NIC and onboard Realtek) are very slow to come up w/ a link to the tune of 2 minutes.  Very vague post, I know, but was wondering if anyone else has this problem.

The hardware is one of the supermicro 330 atom 1u boxes w/ a 1TB 7200.11 seagate drive and the dual Intel NIC.

    What do you mean with "are very slow to come up w/ a link to the tune of 2 minutes" ?
    Do you mean after a reboot of the ASG you cannot ping the ASG from your LAN before 2 minutes after you powered the box on? Or the link light doesn´t show a link before 2 minutes after powering on? Or you cannot access internet before 2 minutes after powering on?

    to get the link up status it takes two minutes.  if i unplug a cable from an interface then plug it back in it takes two minutes for the interfaces to come back up.

    Boa, 2 minutes is much time...I would have understood if this occours only at boot time - it really needs some time until ASG is up and fully running all services., at least on pretty slow systems. But during normal operation, unplugging and plugging in again a cable should not need more than let´s say 5 to 10 seconds.


    I think it would be a good try to log into the console (via keyboard/monitor) and have a look at the log files /var/log/confd.log  /var/log/mdw.log  /tmp/mdwdebug.log  and /tmp/confd-debug.log when you unplug and re-plug the cable

    Perhaps you see some kinde of loop or other misbehaviour which could explain what happens.

    Also, you could use the tool mii-diag on the command line to see how the NICs are working.
