Yes, they both showed up along with the on-board controller during the text mode of the installation.  I thought that was a good sign.  But when I started to configure in the GUI, only the on-board adapter was there, neither of the Intel NICs showed up.  Can't remember when you set the management interface IP address if you should get an interface list to choose from.  If you are suppose to, I did not get a choice during the text mode setup.

Where exactly did you look in the Webadmin? Under Network - Interfaces - Hardware  - and nothing besides the onboard NIC is displayed there?

Yes, the Intel Pro 1000/MT is supported, and the fact that the kernel recognices the card correctly shows indeed that the driver is loaded correctly.  Are the interfaces also shown if you do an "ifconfig -a" at the console?


And yes, on a ASG software install, at the point where you can enter the managment IP address, you should get the selection on _which_   of the recognized NICs this IP should be set.

You can try the command "/etc/init.d/initnics start" on the console but I doubt this will change someting.

Network, Interfaces, Hardware only showed eth0 as being the only NIC card.

I did do an ifconfig (without -a) and only saw eth0 (onboard) and the loopback l0.

I'll give the /etc/init.d/initnics start a try.  Currently the box has an older single interface nic in it so I need to replace the card and reload it to do more troubleshooting.

please issue a "ifconfig -a", because without the "-a" option you will only see activated and configured interfaces.
 
ifconfig -a shows all interfaces with are "valid" Linux interfaces. Your Intel NICs HAVE TO show up there, otherwise you have no chance that they appear inside webadmin.

OK, I put the card back in and did a ifconfig -a.  It is not listed in the list.

I looked again at the lshw -C network and they show up there as UNCLAIMED.  I did see that means there are no drivers for it.  It is identified as an Intel 82546GB adapter in that list that is on the HCL "http://www.astaro.com/lists/HCL-ASG-V7.txt" so I don't know what to think.  The card is working because I put it on a Windows machine and it functioned fine.  The only thing that may be is the revision of the card.  Rev01 and Rev03 are the supported ones.  There is nothing listed on the card that states what revision number it is.  With my luck it's probably Rev02.

i bought the same card i think from ebay INTEL 8492MT 1000MT Gigabit 2 PORT SERVER NETWORK CARD, Will this be supported or not ?

That's where I got it also.

I ended up buying an IBM NetXtreme card yesterday off of eBay that is also on the HCL.  For $10 it is worth a shot.

I'm using a Linksys card now but need the extra interface.  It's a 1U chassis so I have not room for additional adapters.
