Re-Install ASG220 from USB-CD without monitor

I have a problem that someone might help.

I've got ASG220 box from e-bay. With help from vendor, I am be able to renew the MA and subscription to use this box for the company.
- When I received this box, it came with 7.404 installed, unfortunately, the evaluation period has expired. To able to use, I need to have the proper license install which I do not have it right now. The solutions I can think of is to re-load Astaro onto that box to get another 30 days evaluation period (correct me if I am wrong) until I get the license from vendor.

The problem I am facing now is to get the box to boot from USB CD, There are 2 USB port on the rear side of the box. This is what I have done:
- Have the SSI ISO image burn to CD, put the bootable CD (which I already tested that it is working) into external USB CD. Attach the external CD to USB port on the rear side. What happen is it does not boot from CD, instead, the box boot to Astaro OS on hardware as usual. Neither USB port was work.
- I guess that the boot order may wrong and the fact that I can not modify the BIOS setting on ASG220 (no VGA) so I have removed the existing HDD and replace with 2.5 IDE drive I have and wish that it will try to boot to CD when it could not boot from HDD. No luck, nothing happen, this time no screen status on the front panel of the box, no sound, nothing.

I hope some could point me out how to load the Astaro into the box without waiting the license from vendor to start using this box.

    Either the ASG's USB ports are dead, or you have a problem with the USB CD.

    Either the ASG's USB ports are dead, or you have a problem with the USB CD.

    The USB ports are probably fine;  Older 220 units were sometimes shipped with the BIOS set to boot from the HD first.  Several units that we reloaded for customers (when we made the jump from V6 to V7, especially) were configured this way, and Astaro was also aware of it.  The fix was to open up the case, and plug in the (included) 16 ping header with the VGA female connector adaptor cable on it, and plug in a USB keyboard, which enabled us to go into the BIOS and change the settings.

    If you search the forums (it's probably been a year or 2 now), you'll find a thread where I post the pinout if you need to roll your own cable, or possibly can find one that's universal that will work.

    Oh, and you can't just swap that hard drive... it has to be a specially prepared hard drive from Astaro if you are using an ASG 220 license (there is some info stored on there that identifies the unit as a 220 appliance, for licensing purposes).  If you are using a standard software license, then the original 220 Hard Disk will need to have all of the partitions removed before installation.

    Since you have maintenance now, you should be able to open a case with Astaro, or with your Reseller, to get the appropriate cable for the USB (video) issue (see my previous post), or a replacement HD if the one you have is bad.
