Memory Useage increase over a few days time

Hi I am running the latest ASG 7.501 pattern version  11169, and i have noticed that memory usage reported on the dashboard increases drastically over a 3 day time period. I only have 2 packet filter rules specified and the output of top does not indicate anything out of the ordinary.  Is this an issue that i should be worried about. I am running ASG on an Intel socket 775 3.0Ghz 2mb L2 cache with hyper-threading, i have 3 GB of ram installed and currently the dashboard shows i am using 70% of my ram..i am not sure why this is so high but my reporting indicates this increase is constantly going up

    BTW, I'm pushing our security team to try this product.  They are in the market for a solution such as this and are currently doing POCs with several products.  Without saying the company name, we are a fortune 100 company and one of the largest paper manufacturing companies in the world.  If they decide to look at ASG, we would be looking at purchasing several of the 625 appliances along with ACC. I'm not even sure the product will handle an infrastructure our size, but to put it bluntly, this issue is concerning to them and I'm having trouble getting them to take it seriously.

    I don't think the asg 625 is going to have this issue.  How many users are you looking to support?  Maybe you need a cluster...or you could build your own box..it all depends on the number of users and the features you want to enable...details please.

    That's an old issue; not relevant in recent versions.

    Approx. 50,000 users, mainly in the US and Europe, but some in South America and the Pacific Rim as well. Right now they are looking at content filering/reporting and IPS.

    you would need a cluster most likely.  there's not much in terms of single units that's going to handle that kind of load.

    Oh they'll definitely need a cluster, along with a central control system such as ACC.  That's why I mentioned earlier that I wasn't sure that Astaro would scale that large, but I really like it so I am trying to get them to at least take a look at it.  I have sent them some reports, including my Executive Reports which I get and of course, they noticed the memory leak on the graph.  They are concerned and rightly so.  I'm just trying to find out if there's a fix coming down the pike for this issue since I'm apparently not the only one experiencing it.  As one user mentioned earlier, rebooting every few days in this type of a production environment is NOT an option.

    I have seen such graphs as well, but none from my customers... they may have something to do with certain hardware configurations, not denying that possibility. If you use official ASG appliances, hardware issues should not be a concern; after all, it's the hardware they use and test on.

    FWIW, I have several customers on custom hardware (provided by my company) and don't have any memory leaks going on.  It is higher-end hardware, though, to be sure, and the specs are based off of what Astaro uses.

    Hallo,

    I have the same problem. My Astaro freezes. I can't connect to admin, no webaccess, no access via putty to the box. Nothing. Only a reboot with reset helps.
    Is there a solution for this problem.
    After reboot I can see via top, that the processes called snort_inline und index.pl are the processes with highest memoryusage (snort_inline about 100% over a long time).

    In the next morning the ASG is always frozen and only a reboot helps.
    Thats frustrating.
