Network UPS vs Local?

I have a 7.5 ASG box that I love for home.  I also have a new Netgear ReadyNAS Duo.  Both of which support a UPS.  My question is: if I have the UPS on the Netgear, can I configure ASG to check the UPS remotely?  or vice versa, will ASG support a remote client?

How does ASG handle UPS support.. is it NUT or something alike?

  • Currently Astaro only supports, directly, automated shutdown and monitoring of locally connected UPS units via the USB port.  I believe there is a feature request open on this, go to feature.astaro.com to search for it and vote for it.

In the meantime, you should be able to use PowerChute (if you are using a SmartUPS equipped with a Network Management Card) on one of your servers to start a script that would connect to the Astaro via SSH and issue a Shutdown command.
