Recommend for low-power box?

Hi All,

Looking for recommendations on low power box to run my Astaro Gateway.

Currently running on an older PC that really sucks the power and I am wondering if anyone would be willing to toss their system specs out?

I would like to get down in the 50 or so watt range as I am now around 135 watts.

    It surprised me too but this thing just seems to take whatever you throw at it. Last night, it was recording 3 HD feeds while we watched an HD show (2-
    HDHomeRun units) and memory was about 50 percent utilized and procs were running about 28 %. Did not have any issues. Wow...

    My new Astaro box will be here Thursday and I am anxious to have it back up and running!

    So I got my new box and NewEgg sent the wrong one...  [:(] 

    Did the RMA stuff and the correct box showed up yesterday. Got everything installed and set to go and Astaro would not install. Kept coming up with a kernel panic as it was formatting the storage partition.

    Tried numerous things as related to BIOS settings with no luck at all. After 3 hours decided to give up for the night.

    This morning I decided to remove one of my memory sticks, had 2, 1 Gb sticks in the box. Tried the reinstall and got a little further but still failed. So I removed that stick and put the other one back in and low and behold, the installation completed. Looks like I have a bad memory stick. Ugh, all that time wasted.....

    Needless to say, I have ordered 2, 1Gb Corsair as replacements!

    In testing, the other box running Windows 7 Media Center (very well) and this box for Astaro is pulling a total of 52 watts which is just great!

    That is awsome! My box has been up for 12 days no issues. When I ordered the box I got PNY ram. Everything worked the first time out! I am considering adding a second fan for the processor. The chip set has a fan on it, the processor does not. The server case is cool except where the CPU is. The case is warm but not excessively so.

    Hi Darrelld,
    the 690 chipset is too new for the ASG kernel. I tried one during the v7.5xx beta and had to use it elsewhere.
    The intel atom 330 MB fails on SATA, needs to use the IDE function. It recognises and treats the drive as IDE even though it is SATA.

    Intel D510MO (with integrated Atom 2x 1.66Ghz CPU, 1x 10/100/1000 Mbit) [FANLESS]
    1x 1GB Kingston KVR800D2N5
    1x 120GB 5400 rpm 2,5" HDD
    1x 120w power supply from my old PII 400 (20PIN!!!)
    1x Intel MT1000 PRO Desktop Adapter

    Total power consumption: 27,0 watts

    Webproxy enabled... everthing is fast...
