Is it safe to update to 7.501?

Hi,
I'm running 2 ASG320 with RAM-Upgrade to 2 GB in HA-Mode, both v7.405. As I heard of the issues with the HA changing to cluster-mode and the irresponsive Webadmin because of the news-feed-bug I decided to wait with updating to 7.500.

Now 7.501 is out and the HA-issue should be fixed but there are some messages reporting the Webadmin-bug is still "alive"...

Now I'm wondering if  I should wait another time for the "fix of the fix"?!

Regards

XACT

  • According to my experience, unless you really need it - no.
You better wait for a while.
Many bugs and strange behavior comparing to 7.5
  • I have upgraded some of my managed customers to it with no ill effect; however, I am aware of some issues with HTTP scanning wth SSL enabled (HTTPS mode)... if you are using that, I'd wait.  I've had no other issues in testing.

  • We had some weird results upgrading to 7.5.01.  Running two ASG 220 in HA mode.  The HTTP proxy got all messed up.  Had to temporarily disable the proxy until I could split the HA then restore my 7.4.05.  Not sure what happened there but I'm going to wait a few more patches before trying again.
  • Gert (I think it was) made a suggestion about upgrading in a way to avoid having to do much to go backwards.

    Power down slave.
    Up2Date Master.
If the new version works well, power on the slave and it will be brought up to speed by the Master.
If you want to return to the older version, change the Master's Internal (Address) to one that's available, immediately power down the Master, then power-up the slave.  On the Master, disconnect all Ethernet cables except that to the Internal interface.  Now, you can power it up, release any emails that look like they might not be spam and then reimage with the prior version.

    Cheers - Bob

  • As I remember, one of the feature request was to be able to go backwards and revert from upgrade.
