    With the HP servers, there are fewer driver differences from generation to generation.  I know that SATA controllers sometimes need to have a mode change, but I haven't done it.

    personally i wouldn't worry too much about this.

    Astaro will work on right about anything, and on top of that, the HP G5 series servers are proven reliable and not too difficult in terms of drivers. At least,
    that's my experience with the Proliant G4, G5 & G6 series (G6 only DL versions, however).
