modem connection freezes

i updated my astaro 7.405 to 7.5  3 weeks ago. since then my modem freezes. i have the following situation;

speedtouch modem configured with dhcp spoofing.
astaro gets the public ip.

nothing is changed before the update of astaro on the modem or after the update. there were no problems when i was running astaro 7.405. now almost every day the modem freezes after i updated my astaro to 7.5. the only way to get the modem running is to restart it. to test this if it is the modem or the astaro i connected a computer for 3 days directly to the modem, there were no problem or freezing connection. when i connect the astaro again the problem starts all over.

does anyone have the same problem...

    I am also having an issue with my Astaro once it upgraded from 7.405 to 7.501. Since last week, I have seen the following:

    1. The VM running my Astaro goes to 100% CPU. During that time, I have no access to the Webadmin nor through the Astaro to the internet.
    2. Appears at times that my external NIC goes "dead". My Webadmin works from the internal NIC and I can shutdown the external NIC, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on and all is fine.

    I have had item #1 happen at least 3-4 times per day and now item #2 has happened at least once a day since last Thursday. Prior to the 7.501 upgrade, things were running great. Ideas?

    Ok ... update from my end. I have disabled IPS and things have stabilized for me. No reports of the isuses I pointed out.

    j, what do you see in the IPS log?  There's a whole new set of IPS rules in 7.5, and those of us who participated in the beta already have disabled a bunch of them.  There was thread about IPS eating DNS responses, and the dnsresolver was pegging the CPU; I don't know that anyone mentioned the specific rule involved.  If Astaro Support fixes this for you, please let us know which rule(s) they disabled.

    Sorry for the long time since replying. I didn't talk with support and basically fully disabled IPS after seeing all of the folks having issues with IPS. I haven't had time to go back and look at it since.

    My #2 issue is coming back with a vengance. It is very irritating as I am at work and cannot access my home machines because they are disconnected. I have included a screen shot of the Dashboard that shows that the In aspect of the NIC is receiving. The Out is showing 0kb. I am wondering:

    1. Is there a script I can setup in the cron that can check for a ping to an outside IP? If that fails or returns "time out", then it would disable the NIC and enable it after a short time frame.
    2. Other than my VM/Host issues, any other ideas on what could be causing this?

    This is quite irritating and I would love to resolve quickly.

    Assigned 1 physical core of CPU
    1024 MB of RAM
    80 GB of Drive space (at 40% full)
    External NIC: MS Legacy Adapter (identified by ASG as Digital Equipment Corporation DECchip 21140 [FasterNet]) connected to Virtual Switch to Ethernet port to Cable Modem
    Internal NIC: MS Legacy Adapter (identified by ASG as Digital Equipment Corporation DECchip 21140 [FasterNet]) connected to all other VM's and Wifi Access Point
