Trying to Upgrade 7.5 to a better PC

I have ran ASG since version 6 or thereabouts on the same PC but with the latest versions recommended hardware requirements it is starting to reach its physical limits.

I have another PC here just for that purpose. It is a HP Compaq DC7800 Small form factor. Everything is stock standard for this model except for additional RAM & NIC. 

I have it running with 3 gigs of RAM & an additional PCI DLink network card.

All this was found on initial setup part.

One thing of note though is i could only install in classic mode as the other options stalled at the uncompressing of kernel.

Installing with APIC disabled seemed to do the trick & i got right through to reboot but when doing so i was just getting a blank screen afer Grub part.

Going into Grub & choosing resue showed me it was stalling with a kernal panic message.

hardware specs are :-

Chipset
 Intel Q35 Express 
Intel Core2 Duo E4400 processor (2.00 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i really want to complete this upgrade
