HOw much Astaro Can the Intel Atom Handle?

I was trialling an atom 330 (X2) with 2gb during the v7.500 beta. It did not have any problems with the load. The reason I am not using it at the moment is I had a problem with a bug in the beta which was only fixed in the second last beta release.
The atom 300 board I am using is not much more efficient than the current board. Atom 330 ran about 40-45 watts mainly due to the inefficient chipset.

If you do a search and have a look at Barryg's signature you will find he is using a single core atom without a problem.

My current box will use less power when I return a 4 port NIC I am testing for work.

8/. pppoe 4-5mb/800kb
9/. time managed users - packet filter and http profiles
10/. a mix of XP sp3, linux, vista 64 and windows 7 users, managed vlan switch and a WAP
11/. 2 atas to different voip providers - VOIP Security
12/. user portal enabled, but not used
13/. ntp
14/. im/p2p

I have run Astaro (Home 10 user) on a Jetway NC91-230-LF, with 2 Mb Ram & a HP NC3131 Dual Port 10/100 Nic connected to a 50 Mbs Virgin Media cable connection. I have a desktop P.C., a couple of laptops, plus a PS/3 to protect. It ran well, with 2-3% processor usage, until it suddenly started to run very slowly. A reboot, cancellation of all rules and closing the proxy didn't fix it. I was a little stumped as to why it had slowed so considerably. Thinking it may be a hardware problem (the nic is secondhand), I blew it away and installed Untangle (free version) with all items enabled. It flys... I've been running that for about a month now..So I have full confidence in my hardware now.
I woud be quite happy to go back and try again (using the new 50 user licence), especially if there was help available if it slows again.

... I do use the Intel Atom Board ..glf2 with Dual Atom and 2G!
It runs fine most of the time.
But I do have some problems. The Board sometimes just don't respond anymore.
(no Ping back at all!!)
There's still the Astaro Login on the screen - but I can't type anything. The only workaround is to push the Power Button! 
I tried the new Endian 2.3 Community Release as well. But there was the same problem. (but it seems not as often - probably not as much load, since the endian hasn't as much features as the Astaro ;-)
Well I thougt, probably a temperature problem. But no....
It just happend again. I left the Firewall off over night and just turned it on.
At first, it worked like normal but then again, I had to power off..
The Bios should be the last Revison, 2GB of RAM (which I probably should test with memtest - could be the reason?????). 
I use a Riser Card with a D-Link Gigabit Network Card. 
Also a 2.5 HD 60GB. Also the Noah Case with integrated Power 80Watt..
Does anybody has a clue, what to do to fix this stupid error?

Hi,
have a look at the chipset fan, mine failed very early on. I decided not to replace it under warranty, but went for a slightly different mount, that moves more air, but runs a lot quieter. The only down side is the fan has no speed sensor, so I swapped the case fan and the chipset fan power leads.

Also you might find that the 80 watt powersupply is sailing close to the limits for that setup under load. Try it with a ordinary PC powersupply for a while.

Well this could be....
The funny thing is, that the case has an additional Fan. So I thought temperatur shouldn't be the case. But the cpu fan is very tiny - you could be right. Maybe it just stops working.
The system obviously just freezes. So Ram, Temperature or Powersupply could be possible.

it isn't the CPU fan, the CPU is fanless, it is the chipset fan.

The Atom 330 CPU runs 8 watts
The intel chipset runs about 32watts, has a desktop display chip inbuilt. This is the same chip IBM/Lenovo use in their desktop PCs.

Also don't run it lying on its side, the fan doesn't like it.

You are looking at 40watts before adding any other bits. Also trying using the minimal settings in the bios for the display.
